A Fond Farewell: Monroe Environmental Thanks Jeff Buford for Nearly 42 Years of Service

Dated: December 12, 2025

Monroe, MI – A very special congratulations to Jeff Buford, who is hanging up his work gear and stepping into a well-earned retirement after nearly 42 years as a fabricator and shop leader at Monroe Environmental!

Jeff was hired straight out of the welding program at Monroe County Community College. He still jokes that “at first they didn’t want to hire me, but the office manager at the time convinced them.” It turned out to be the right decision.

Back then the company had only about seven people in the shop, another handful in the office, and a goal of reaching $1 million in annual sales. Through many decades of growth and change, Jeff has remained a steady, reliable presence whose craftsmanship and dedication helped shape the company into what it is today.

As he looks ahead, his short-term plans include fixing up his house to sell and heading to Alabama, where his family roots run deep. Longer term, he has one simple goal that brings a smile every time he mentions it; spending time with his new yellow lab puppy.

A company-wide celebratory lunch to honor Jeff was held today. We wish him all the best in this next chapter and thank him for more than four decades of commitment, skill, and heart. Enjoy every moment of retirement Jeff — you’ve earned it!
