Monroe Environmental Turns Scrap Steel into Career Opportunities
Dated June 25, 2026
Monroe, MI – Building the next generation of skilled trades starts with supporting students today.
For the past several years, Monroe Environmental has proudly donated scrap steel to the welding program at Ida Schools, helping students gain hands-on experience through welding, plasma cutting, classroom assignments, and personal projects.
A special thank you goes to Monroe Environmental employee and Master Fabricator, Chad Bitz, who not only coordinates scrap steel pickups but also volunteers his time to support Ida’s welding program.

Recently, Ida High School Welding Instructor David Morelli shared student project photos and expressed his appreciation: “Many learning experiences and projects were created because of your generosity. Thank you for helping provide a better learning experience for my students.”
Supporting manufacturing trades is an investment in our community’s future. In addition to providing materials to Ida Schools, Monroe Environmental partners with Monroe County Community College to offer welding training and has welcomed program graduates into full-time careers.
We’re honored to help create opportunities and inspire the next generation of welders and fabricators.
